Computers: Repair Or Replace?

computer repair, computer serviceDO YOU STRUGGLE ON KNOWING when it’s time to replace your computer?  Millions of people find it hard to know when it is the right time to give up those frequent computer repairs. Always having to replace parts on your computer can become expensive and time consuming.  If your computer is still meeting your everyday needs, it’s hard to figure out whether or not those pesky repairs are even worth it. The amount of money you are spending on your computer to repair it might just add up to the cost of a  new computer.  On the other hand, some repairs can be an easy fix, such as software issues, which you can even do yourself and won’t put a major dent in your wallet. Will Power PCS wants to give you some valuable information on when it just might be the right time to replace your computer rather than repair it.

Below is a list of issues that you may be experiencing with your computer. Some issues are worth the repair whereas more serious issues might be reason to replace your computer. Cost will be the #1 factor in deciding whether to repair or replace your PC. In any case, this assessment isn’t exactly as direct as it appears. Now and again, it might be more beneficial to have an issue repaired as opposed to flat out buying a whole new PC. While we can’t prescribe the exact right thing to do for you based on your personal needs, we certainly show you what your best options might be.

Computer Is Running Slow

If your PC has slowed down after some time, you may have just installed a lot of unnecessary software, that keeps running at startup, or your PC might have been infected with malware. You might think your computer is running slow because it’s old, and therefore you assume that it’s time to replace it. This is not always the right answer.

If your PC is running slow, it probably has a software issue which can be repaired.  However, there are some uncommon exceptions to this. For example, maybe your CPU is overheating and it’s downclocking itself, running slower to remain cooler.

Computer Hardware Issues

If you start to notice that files on your hard drive have become corrupted,  experience long delays when you attempt to access or save files to the hard drive or Windows stops booting up entirely, it may be time to replace your PC

It’s not worth risking any data, if not backed up, and it’s a pain when it does happen. You might feel the hard drive isn’t going to die and you can continue using it, but generally this is not the case When an error arises it’s because something inside went wrong. If you have it under warranty great!- Go and get it replaced as soon as possible. Better to be safe than sorry.

Power Supply Issues

A standout among the most disregarded pieces of PC equipment is the power supply unit (PSU). Computer fanatics regularly gloat about their bursting quick processors, untouchable video cards, and tons of RAM, yet we don’t hear them brag about their incredible PSUs.

Truly, the power supply is one of the most important parts for our system. If a PC’s mind is its processor, its heart is the power supply. What’s more, having a PSU that is exhausted, underpowered, unsteady, or just cheap can be cause for hardware failure. It is important that we replace this piece of equipment, as it is an essential part in your computer’s stability.

Other Computer Issues to Consider

Physical Damage

On the off chance that your PC’s case or body has been damaged,  and is no longer under warranty, it would be best to replace your computer. You may be able to transfer your PC’s internal segments to another case, assuming all the internal hardware is still functional. If your hard drive is still intact, data may be recovered by connecting it to a SATA to USB connector. Data can then be duplicated onto another PC, thumb drive or another external hard drive. In the event that you want to keep using the hard drive as an external hard drive, it is highly recommended to run a hard drive test on it to guarantee data integrity.

How Old Is Your PC?

If your computer is five years of age or older,is no longer covered under an extended warranty and cannot be easily fixed, it may be time to purchase a new computer. . System rebuilds and minor hardware repairs might keep your computer up and running for a little while. Be that as it may, when a PC gets that old, it’s not worth putting hundreds of dollars into a computer that can easily breakdown again soon. If your computer is older, it would be best for you to consider replacing it.

Many computers become infected with a virus or malware. In this case, they can easily be repaired by doing a full system restore. The physical hardware itself is still fine which is why it is more feasible to have the virus or malware removed or completely wiped out. Performing a system restore and reformatting the hard drive can eliminate the malware or virus.

William was really helpful towards solving the problems I had. I have a custom desktop and he was able to diagnose my problems and find a solution that didn't require any additional parts. It only took him about 20 minutes to solve the issue too! He was polite when I made silly IT mistakes and even helped me root cause with an additional issue for no extra charge. If I have more issues I will definitely return here.
